Bread Pakodas are great as an appetizer, finger food for any type of the gathering, and a tasty compliment for your afternoon tea. There are two ways to make this one with the potatoes stuffing and without stuffing.
Recipe: Bread Pakoda
Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins
Total time: 30 mins
Serves: 4-5 people
Ingredients:
- Bread slices - 7 ( brown bread/ white bread/ wheat flour bread)
Batter:
- Gram flour(besan)- 1 cup
- Rice flour - 2 tbsp
- Carom seeds - 1 tsp
- Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/3 tsp
- Water - 3/4 cup approximately
- Salt to taste
Potato stuffing:
- Mashed boiled potatoes - 3 medium
- Coriander leaves-1/3 cup
- Red chili powder - 1 Tsp
- Asafoetida(Hing)-1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/3 tsp
- Amchur powder - 1 Tsp
- Salt to taste
- Cooking oil for frying
Note:
- While preparing the batter to make sure the batter is neither thick nor watery.
- Instead of rice flour, you can also use sooji to make Wada crispy.
- You can also add paneer slices in between the sandwich.
Preparation:
- In a mixing bowl mix the Batter ingredients one by one to form the batter. You can change the quantity of spice as per your taste.
- Then in another bowl mix the ingredients required for potato stuffing.
- Take 2 bread and sandwich the stuffing in between them.Then cut them into triangles. repeat this for all other slices of bread.
- Start heating the oil in a pan or wok.
- Dip each triangle in the batter and see that it is evenly coated.
- Gently lower it in the hot oil for frying. You can add as many bread pieces as can fit in your pan.
- Fry the bread pakoras in medium hot oil and flip them a couple of times until they are crisp and golden.
- Remove with a perforated spoon onto paper towels to drain as much oil as possible.
- Serve these bread pakoras hot with tomato ketchup or mint chutney or sweet Tamarind chutney.
